Vol. 164 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Price of Barley.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will make an early statement on the price to be paid for feeding barley of the 1958 crop, and if, in view of the cost of imported barley this season, he is prepared to guarantee an increased price and less onerous conditions concerning moisture content.

The question of the price to be paid for home-grown feeding barley of the 1958 crop is at present under consideration and I intend to make a statement in the matter at an early date. As regards the second part of the Deputy's question, I would point out that imported feeding barley is at present quoted at prices from £17 8s. 3d. to £20 12s. 6d. a ton, c.i.f.

47/6 a barrel.

No, £2 maximum.

That is the way Deputy Corry does his mathematics.
