Vol. 164 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Children's Hospital Costs.

asked the Minister for Health if he will state the approximate daily cost of hospitalising a child aged three years at Our Lady's Hospital for Sick Children, Crumlin.

Information on the average cost of maintenance and treatment of patients in voluntary hospitals is available to me only through the reports of the Hospitals Commission on the finances of the hospitals participating in the scheme of grants from the Hospitals Trust Fund toward revenue deficits. The year ending 31st December next is the first full year of operation of Our Lady's Hospital for Sick Children, and the report of the Hospitals Commission in respect of that year will become available to me only towards the close of the year 1958.
