Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Expenditure on Tuberculosis Patients.
The amount spent by health authorities from local funds on the Tuberculosis Service in the year 1956-57 was approximately £2,610,700. Half of this cost is recoupable by the State to local authorities from the Health Services Grant.
In addition to the foregoing, approximately £550,000 a year is paid at present as disability benefit by the Department of Social Welfare to persons certified to be suffering from tuberculosis.
