Vol. 164 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - National Loan Allotments.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state the basis on which allotments of 6 per cent. National Loan were scaled down for applications in excess of £5,000.

Applications for amounts up to and including £5,000 were, in accordance with normal practice, allotted in full. Allotments in respect of applications for amounts in excess of £5,000 were made on a scale declining by stages, according to the amount of the application, from 90 per cent. to approximately 33? per cent.

I am afraid I did not quite hear the Minister saying how they were scaled down.

They were scaled down according to the amount of the application.

Would the Minister not say what the percentage was on each amount?

From 90 per cent. to approximately 33? per cent.

I presume an application for £50,000, and over, got a cut of X per cent. and an application of £100,000 a cut of Y per cent. Has the Minister not got these particulars?

I am sorry. I have not got those.

They were asked for in the question.

Yes—the basis.

It was a very general question and it got, of course, a very general answer. If the Deputy had asked, in relation to the specific amounts, what the amounts were, then he would have got the answer in the detail he requires. I have no doubt he will get it by applying to the Minister.
