Vol. 164 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Loan Conversions.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state in respect of (a) the Financial Agreement Loan, and (b) the 1956 5½ per cent. National Loan, the amount converted into 1957 National Loan, distinguishing between the amounts (i) up to £1,000, (ii) from £1,000 to £5,000, (iii) from £5,000 to £10,000, (iv) from £10,000 to £50,000 and (v) over £50,000.

£5,145,000 of Financial Agreement Loan and £5,233,000 of 5½ per cent. National Loan have been converted into 6 per cent. National Loan, 1967. Statistics which would be required to give the detailed breakdown required by the Deputy are not extracted and their preparation would involve additional expense.

Could the Minister say what percentages of the amount outstanding in respect of each of these loans those figures represent? I will admit at the outset that I should have asked that question.

I am afraid the Deputy will have to ask it next session because I have not got the information.
