Vol. 165 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Industrial Grants.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state in respect of grants under the Industrial Grants Act, 1956, (1) the total number of applications made, (2) the total amount of money applied for, (3) the total number of applications granted, (4) the total amount of money granted, (5) the number of applications made by Irish nationals, and the number granted, and (6) the number of applications made by non-nationals, and the number granted.

I have no functions in regard to the day to day administration of the Industrial Grants Act, 1956, by the Industrial Development Authority. Paragraph 7 of the Schedule to the Industrial Grants Act, 1956, provides for the submission by the Industrial Development Authority of an annual report to be laid on the Table of each House of the Oireachtas. I do not think it is desirable that the Industrial Development Authority should be asked to supply information of the kind requested by the Deputy in advance of this report.
