Vol. 165 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - North Kerry Unemployment.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether he is aware that a serious unemployment problem exists in the North Kerry area, and, if so, whether he has any proposals for dealing with this situation.

The provision of increased employment in North Kerry, as in other areas, depends in the main on securing an expansion of industrial production, and the policy of the Government has been directed towards providing the maximum incentive to private enterprise to undertake new and expanded industrial activities. As the Deputy is aware, North Kerry is included in the areas to which the Undeveloped Areas Acts apply and any sound proposal for the setting up of a factory in the areas concerned will be given all possible assistance and support.
