Vol. 165 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Arrivals from the U.S.A. at Shannon Airport.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state the total number of passengers, other than transit passengers, arriving from the United States of America at Shannon Airport, and going to the United States of America from Shannon Airport, for the years 1952, 1953, 1954, 1955, and 1956, and to the latest available date in 1957, and the estimated total for 1958.

As the information is in the form of a tabular statement I propose, with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, to have it circulated in the Official Report. The figures include passengers to and from Canada, but such passengers represent only a small proportion of the total.

The expectation is that transatlantic traffic will be substantially greater in 1958, but I cannot, at this early stage, estimate the figures for Shannon.

Following is the statement:—
