Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Wheat Used in Manufacture of Flour.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state (a) the estimated number of tons of native wheat which will be used for the manufacture of flour in the current financial year, and (b) the amount of imported wheat to be used for the same purpose, indicating the countries of origin, and the c.i.f. price per ton in each case.

The user of wheat for the manufacture of flour in the current financial year is estimated at 300,000 tons of native and 117,000 tons of imported wheat.

The countries of origin in the case of imported wheat and the average c.i.f. price per ton were: Canada, £29 14s. 9d.; Australia, £26 3s. 8d.; U.S.A., £29 5s. 2d.
