Vol. 166 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Road Fund Expenditure.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state the amount of money spent under each heading from the Road Fund during each year from 1947-48 to 1957-58.

Details of Road Fund expenditure for the years 1947-48 to 1955-56 are given in the annual reports of the Department. In regard to the year 1956-57 I am arranging that an advance typed copy of the Road Fund account will be forwarded to the Deputy. The figures for 1957-58 are not yet available.

Is the annual report to which the Minister referred sent to Deputies or is it in the Dáil Library? Where does one get it?

I do not know myself, but I shall try to find out where it can be got. I imagine that it is sent to Deputies and that it is in the Library.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state the estimated amount that will be paid out of the Road Fund by way of grant to local authorities in respect of the work to be done during the year 1958-59 under the headings (a) main road upkeep grant, (b) main road improvement grant and (c) county road improvement grant.

It is estimated that the total grants to be paid to local authorities in respect of main road upkeep in 1958-59 will amount to £900,000 approximately. The total allocations made for main road and county road improvement to be undertaken in 1958-59 are £1,000,000 and £2,400,000, respectively.
