Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cork Road Works.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state the total number of road workers employed by Cork County Council on (a) 1st February, 1957, (b) 1st March, 1957, (c) 1st February, 1958, and (d) 1st March, 1958.

Returns of employment of road workers furnished by local authorities relate to the last day of the month. The total number employed on 31st January and 26th February, 1957, was 1,740 and 1,686 respectively. The figures for the corresponding dates in 1958 are 1,514 and 1,523 respectively. These figures do not include persons employed on schemes financed from the Employment and Emergency Schemes Vote.
