Vol. 166 No. 1

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take business in the following order: Nos. 2 and 6 and in 6 Votes 27, 29, 30 and 33. If No. 2 is not concluded by 6 p.m. business will be interrupted to take No. 6. If No. 6 is not concluded by 8 o'clock, No. 2 will be resumed. It is not proposed to take Private Deputies' business at 9 o'clock.

Might I ask your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, to raise the subject matter of Question No. 52 addressed to the Minister for External Affairs, on the 26th February, at the convenience of the Minister for External Affairs?

I shall communicate with the Deputy later.

May I ask if it is not proposed to take Private Members' time at 9 o'clock?

No. The Order of Business states it is not proposed to interrupt public business at 9 p.m.

I expected that Motion No. 21 on the Order Paper would be resumed and I think it is very unfair that this will not be done. I should like to protest about this matter and about the attitude of the Minister and Parliamentary Secretary, in not replying to this motion last week. They were well aware that time would not be allowed and now it will have to wait until November——

I cannot allow the Deputy to proceed as there is nothing before the House.

I know it cannot now come up until November——

That does not necessarily follow. Private Members' time is never taken during the discussion on the Vote on Account but I think where a motion is in progress time will be found to finish it as soon as possible.

The Deputy can say it all on the Vote on Account.
