(d) The cause of delay in payment

The claimants are employees of the Board of the Cork Harbour Commissioners and there was a change in the rate of employment contribution payable in respect of certain employees of the Board arising out of a change by the Board in its sick pay provisions. Delay resulted from the necessity for completion of the forms of application for insurance cards, allocation of insurance numbers and adjustment of employment contributions. When these matters were settled arrangements were made for payment of disability benefit as soon as was practicable.

(g) When definite replies may be expected.

I take it there is no need to wait for the Official Report for the reply to my question under (f) in which I asked the reason for the delay in replying to representations made by me. Perhaps the Parliamentary Secretary would like to comment on that aspect at this stage?

If the Deputy would repeat his question next week, I shall reply to that.

The Deputy has been waiting already for five weeks to get a simple reply to a simple question. However, I shall do as the Parliamentary Secretary suggests.
