Vol. 166 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Transatlantic Air Service.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether, in view of the fact that there is no money to the credit of Aer Linte in the form of bank credits or other negotiable securities, running costs and losses, if any, sustained in the operation of the transatlantic air service will necessarily be recoupable from the Exchequer.

The answer is in the negative.

If the facts of my statement are correct how could the answer be in the negative? If, as I assume, there is no money——

The Deputy asked if any losses would necessarily be recoupable from the Exchequer and the answer is "no". I am not responsible for the Deputy's assumptions.

The Deputy's assumptions are based on answers given by the Minister to questions I have put to him previously.

The answer to the question the Deputy asked is "no".
