Vol. 167 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Revenue from Import Levies and Customs Duties.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state (a) the estimated annual reduction in revenue from special import levies following the recent reduction and abolition of certain special import levies, and (b) the estimated annual revenue from increased customs duty which took effect on the 1st April, 1958.

It is estimated that the amendments to the special import levies and customs duties made in the Imposition of Duties (No. 28) (Special Import Levies and Customs Duties) Order, 1958, with effect from the 10th instant will cause a reduction of about £650,000 in the annual revenue from the import levies and an increase of about £600,000 in the annual revenue from ordinary customs duties.
