Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Mayo Ophthalmic Service.

asked the Minister for Health if he will state the number of patients referred for ophthalmic treatment to hospitals or other institutions outside the country under the existing ophthalmic service in County Mayo, and the total cost thereof to the health authority in each of the years 1951 to 1957, inclusive.

asked the Minister for Health if he will state the number of patients treated under the existing ophthalmic service in County Mayo in each of the years 1951 to 1957, inclusive.

With the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 2 and 3 together and to circulate in the Official Report a tabular statement setting out the greater part of the information sought by the Deputy.

I have not available to me the cost of ophthalmic services provided for County Mayo patients in hospitals outside the county in the years 1951 to 1957, inclusive, but I will write to the Deputy about this later.

Following is the statement:—
