Vol. 167 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Old Age Pensions Means Test.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he has received requests from time to time from a number of trade unions and/or staff benevolent committees for the introduction of amending legislation whereby applicants for an old age pension, who are in receipt of a contributory staff scheme pension, will not have the latter included in the means test for old age pension purposes; and, if so, if he will have the necessary legislation introduced with a view to removing and rectifying the existing hardship and injustice to such applicants.

I have not received any requests of the kind mentioned.
