The number of persons effectively insured under the Social Welfare Acts at the most recent available date is estimated to be 721,000. The number of dependents of these persons is not known as it is only when an insured person claims benefit that information regarding his or her dependents is obtained.
Could the Parliamentary Secretary say to what date he refers? He said it was the latest date available. Could he give the actual date?
