Vol. 168 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Deputation from Ringsend Salmon Fishermen.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state (a) when he first received a request to meet a deputation of salmon fishermen from Ringsend concerning the serious deterioration of the fishing industry in the area, and (b) why he has so far refused to meet that deputation when requested by me to do so.

The answer to the first part of the Deputy's question is the 29th March, 1958.

As to the second part, the matters proposed to be raised by the deputation called for certain inquiries which proved more protracted than anticipated. This has caused the delay in the reception of the deputation.

Could the Minister give me any idea of when I may expect him to receive the deputation?

Now that all the technical matters have been investigated, the deputation will be received in the immediate future.
