Written Answers. - Portrane Mental Hospital: Workers' Wages.

asked the Minister for Health if he will state in respect of Portrane Mental Hospital, County Dublin, the rates of wages for (a) farm workers and (b) dairy workers effective from 28th May, 1956, and the respective rates of wages required at subsequent quarter year intervals, corresponding to the publication of the consumer price index, to restore the purchasing power of the wages in each case to the May, 1956, value.

The present rates of wages of farm workers and dairy workers employed at St. Ita's Hospital, Portrane, Donabate, County Dublin, are respectively, £5 18s. 6d. and £6 8s. 6d. a week. These rates have obtained since 28th May, 1956.

The answer to the second part of the question is as indicated in the following table:—
