Vol. 168 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Firewood from Limerick Forests.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state (a) the number and location of forests in County Limerick from which timber of an inferior nature is being sold as firewood, etc., and (b) the prices per ton charged for such timber for each year in the period 30th May, 1952 to 30th May, 1958; and if he has received complaints regarding the increased prices per ton for such timber, which are causing grave hardship to poor people in these localities.

Timber of firewood quality is being sold at four forests in County Limerick—Adare, Kilfinane, Galtee and Cappamore. The price charged for such material ranged from 12/6 to 20/- a ton in 1952, 1953 and 1954; from 12/- to 20/- a ton in 1955, and from 10/- to 20/- a ton in 1956, 1957 and to date in 1958.

I have not received any complaints about the prices being charged for such material.
