Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Rural Electrification in South Kerry.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state (1) the areas in South Kerry accepted for rural electrification development during the present financial year, (2) the areas awaiting development where the official canvass has been made, (3) the percentage of acceptances in all such areas, and (4) the areas not yet officially canvassed.

I am informed by the E.S.B. that the areas in South Kerry accepted for development under the rural electrification scheme during the present financial year are the Glenbeigh area, in which construction work is at present in progress, and the Templence and Sneem areas, the development of which is scheduled to commence before the end of the year.

The areas awaiting development, where an official canvass has been carried out, and the percentage of acceptances in each area are as follows:—

45.7%

Killorglin

48.6%

Ballinskelligs

39.1%

Bonane

61.3%

Cahirdaniel

57.6%

Tuosist

42.9%

I am also informed by the board that there is no area in which an official canvass has not yet been carried out.
