Vol. 170 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Estimated Housing Requirements.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state the total estimated housing requirements of (a) Dublin Corporation, (b) Dublin County Council and (c) all other local authorities in the country.

From information furnished by local authorities and subsequent discussions with these authorities, the estimated current working-class requirements may be taken as approximately 320 dwellings in the Dublin County Health District and 9,265 for all other local authority areas throughout the country (except Dublin City). As regards Dublin City, the observations of the Department in regard to the findings of the housing survey carried out during 1954-1956, were communicated to officers of the local authority in January last. I have not yet been furnished with the views of the local authority in this matter.
