Vol. 170 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - West Galway Lands.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state the amount of lands held by the Land Commission in West Galway, the areas involved, and when it is hoped to have these lands divided.

Land Commission records are not kept on a constituency basis. For statistics of lands on hands in County Galway as a whole, I would refer the Deputy to my reply to a question by Deputy Tierney on 26th June last. Every effort is being made to dispose of the back-log of lands on hands as speedily as possible and, as I indicated recently when moving the Lands Estimate, I have directed that arable lands acquired before 1st April last should, generally, be disposed of by March, 1960.
