Vol. 171 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Fines for Smuggling Offences.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state the proportion of fines imposed by the courts for smuggling offences that have been collected; and if he will take steps to ensure that when the Revenue Commissioners settle for a sum of less than the fine imposed this fact will be made public.

It is not possible to quote any representative figure on the lines contemplated by the Deputy.

The answer to the second part of the question is in the negative.
