Vol. 171 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Grant for Donegal Tourist Road.

asked the Minister for Finance if in view of the amount of unemployment in the electoral division of Maghery, parish of Templecrone, County Donegal, he will make available from the Special Employment Schemes Vote a grant for the completion of the tourist road from Dungloe to Maghery.

The proportionate amount of employment schemes funds which was available for Maghery electoral division in the present financial year has been allocated to five accommodation roads in that area—Nos. 151 and 155 inclusive on the list of schemes, a copy of which was issued to the Deputy on 3rd instant.

Grants for county roads, i.e., rural employment schemes, have been confined in recent years to non-urbanised towns with a population of 200 and over. A grant from the Employment and Emergency Schemes Vote cannot, therefore, be made available for the road mentioned by the Deputy.
