Vol. 171 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Drainage of Addrigoole River (Mayo).

asked the Minister for Finance whether he is aware that the land project is being held up in the Bofeenaun-Pontoon areas by reason of the delay in draining the Addrigoole River; and if he will state when the drainage of the river is likely to commence.

The Addrigoole River is situate in the Moy catchment area, for which a scheme under the Arterial Drainage Act, 1945 is at present being prepared by the Commissioners of Public Works. It is hoped that the scheme can be put on exhibition within the next few months. Pending exhibition of the scheme and compliance with the other requirements of the Act, it is not possible to state when actual works can be commenced in the catchment, or how soon thereafter the drainage operations would reach the Addrigoole River.
