Vol. 171 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Acquisition of Kildare Lands.

asked the Minister for Lands whether the Land Commission have reinstituted proceedings for the acquisition of the O'Neill lands at Clane, County Kildare (Record No. S. 1010/29); and if he will state how the matter now stands.

This case has been reviewed recently. Relisting of owner's objection to acquisition—a decision on which was deferred for two years in July, 1956— is still in abeyance, however, pending the outcome of certain negotiations between the Land Commission and the owner. For the present, these negotiations, which are being conducted without prejudice to the owner's objection, must be treated as confidential.

Would the Minister indicate when it is hoped that these negotiations will be concluded?

I gather from the Land Commissioners that it will not be very long.
