Vol. 171 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Land Acquisition: Inspection Arrears.

asked the Minister for Lands what progress has been made in regard to the policy, announced by him on the Estimate for Lands, of clearing arrears of cases listed for inspection with a view to acquisition before investigating new compulsory cases; and if he will state when the Land Commission expect to be in a position to have new cases examined, and the counties concerned.

I am glad to say that the progress made in this matter has been so satisfactory that I have recently been able to remove the temporary suspension imposed last year on the investigation of new compulsory acquisition cases. Suitable new cases are now being accepted for investigation in all counties. I should add that since February last estates having a rateable valuation of £250 or upwards were not subject to this suspension.
