Written Answers. - Occupational Injuries Scheme: National Insurance.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will state the estimated cost of providing an occupational injuries scheme in the Republic (on the assumption that employers would be liable for the total cost) with benefits and contributions corresponding to those obtaining in the Six Counties under the Industrial Injuries Scheme (as amended by the National Insurance (No. 2) Act, 1957), indicating the appropriate scale of contributions and the principal rates of benefit.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will state the estimated cost of providing a system of national insurance in the Republic with benefits and contributions corresponding to those obtaining in the Six Counties under the National Insurance (No. 2) Act, 1957, indicating the appropriate scale of contributions, Exchequer supplement, and the principal rates of benefit.

It is proposed, with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, to take Questions Nos. 123 and 124 together. The answer to both questions is in the negative.
