Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Galway Old Age Pension Claims.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will state in respect of the year ended October, 1958, (1) the number of applications for old age pensions (a) in Galway City and (b) in Galway County, (2) the number of successful applicants who received (a) part pension and (b) full pension, and (3) the number of appeals turned down by him.

The information required by the Deputy is as follows:—

1. The number of applications received during the year ended October 1958, from residents of (a) Galway City was 80, and (b) Galway County was 974.

2. The number of successful applicants who received (a) part pension was Galway City, 7; Galway County, 95; (b) full pension was Galway City, 46; Galway County, 570.

3. The number of cases in which the appeals officer decided that no pension was payable was Galway City, 3; Galway County, 45.
