Vol. 171 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Enlargement and Rearrangement of Mayo Holdings.

asked the Minister for Lands if he is aware that there are 30 tenants in the townland of Rinnanny (Reference No. A. & R. 48131/55) with an average valuation of £3 on land; and whether the Land Commission will take immediate steps to enlarge and rearrange the holdings in this townland.

I understand that, while congestion does exist in the townland referred to, the position is not as acute as the Deputy suggests. Nevertheless, as a step towards relieving deserving congestion in the district, migration proposals which would result in the surrender of some 40 acres to the Land Commission have already been approved. It is not yet possible to indicate, however, when migration can be effected.
