Vol. 171 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Report on Institute for Advanced Studies.

asked the Minister for Education if he will state the date on which the Institute for Advanced Studies published a report on its activities; and when it is proposed to publish a further report.

I would refer the Deputy to my reply to a previous question of his on 16th July, 1953, in which I explained that in accordance with the terms of the Institute for Advanced Studies Act, 1940, the council of the institute presents to the Minister for Education, for submission to the Government, an annual report on the work of the institute and its constituent schools, which is, in due course, laid before each House of the Oireachtas. The Act requires that the council's report for a particular financial year be presented to the Minister within the following financial year.

The last report so presented was that in respect of the financial year 1956-57 which was laid before each House of the Oireachtas in July last. The report for the financial year 1957-58 will be presented in due course.

The audited accounts of the institute in respect of the financial year 1957-58, which are presented separately, were laid before both Houses of the Oireachtas earlier this month.
