Vol. 173 No. 1

Supplementary Estimates, 1958-59—Leave to introduce.

I move: That leave be given by the Dáil to introduce the following Supplementary and Additional Estimates for the service of the year ending on the 31st day of March, 1959, namely:—

Votes No.—

15

(Commissions and Special Inquiries),

26

(Agriculture),

30

(District Court),

31

(Circuit Court),

39

(Secondary Education),

41

(Science and Art),

44

(Universities and Colleges),

46

(Lands),

51

(Transport and Marine Services),

52

(Aviation and Meteorological Services),

54

(Tourism),

62

(Social Insurance),

68

(Repayments to Contingency Fund).

Is it customary at this stage to tell us broadly what they are for?

I think I could remember them roughly, if you mention any particular one.

Agriculture.

Something over £2,000,000.

For what purpose?

Wheat and butter.

I take it they are printed and we will get them this evening?

With the exception of two—Lands and Aviation. In the hope that his may go through expeditiously, we put them down for tomorrow.

What is the total involved?

As I have told the House, agriculture is something over £2,000,000 and the total is something over £2,500,000.

I do not think we should agree to take them first thing in the morning.

And only subject to agreement.

We are anxious to facilitate the Government in any way.

They are to be circulated in a couple of hours anyway.

Can we be assured that we will get them this evening?

Question put and agreed to.
