Vol. 175 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Repair of Mayo Road.

5.

asked the Minister for Finance if the Special Employment Schemes Office will repair the road from Sheskin Lodge to John Garvin's house, Sheskin, as the ten children from houses along this road are unable to attend school in bad weather owing to the absence of bridges over streams which cross this road.

There were only three unemployment assistance recipients in 1959 in the Electoral Division in which the road referred to by the Deputy is situated and there is therefore no prospect of a full cost State grant under Minor Employment Schemes being made available for the work. If application is made under the Rural Improvements Scheme, which requires a contribution from the beneficiaries, the proposal will receive further consideration.
