Vol. 175 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Drainage of Mayo River.

4.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will have a scheme prepared for the drainage of the river through Bracklagh, Glenhest, County Mayo, which is regarded as being too large an undertaking to be appropriate to the Special Employment Schemes Office.

Drainage works at Bracklagh could be undertaken by the Commissioners of Public Works only as part of a comprehensive scheme under the Arterial Drainage Act, 1945, for the Newport River Catchment area, one of the small catchments which will be considered for treatment later in the arterial drainage programme. It is not possible at present to say when it may be reached.
