Mr. Desmond

asked the Taoiseach if he will state the estimated numbers of persons in the various wage-groups, giving details of the wage-groups and their distribution on a percentage basis.

The Taoiseach

The only data available to the Central Statistics Office concerning the number of persons in different wage groups are those compiled from the Annual Census of Industrial Production. The following statement sets out the particulars compiled from the 1956 Census which is the latest inquiry for which complete returns are available:—
