The Consumer Price Index (to base mid-August 1947=100) increased from 126 at mid-February, 1955 to 147 at mid-May, 1959 or more exactly, by 20.47 points from 126.49 at the earlier date to 146.96 at the later and the number of points attributable to each group in the index was:—Food 10.15; Clothing 0.57; Fuel and Light 0.98; Housing 1.11; Sundries 7.67.
