asked the Taoiseach if he will state in respect of the Consumer Price Index for the period mid-February, 1955 to date (a) the total increase in points, and (b) the number of points attributable to each group in the index.

The Consumer Price Index (to base mid-August 1947=100) increased from 126 at mid-February, 1955 to 147 at mid-May, 1959 or more exactly, by 20.47 points from 126.49 at the earlier date to 146.96 at the later and the number of points attributable to each group in the index was:—Food 10.15; Clothing 0.57; Fuel and Light 0.98; Housing 1.11; Sundries 7.67.
