Vol. 176 No. 2

Written Answers. - Grangegorman Mental Hospital: Nurses' Rations.

32.

asked the Minister for Health if he will state in respect of Grangegorman Mental Hospital (1) the current scale of rations applicable to (a) male nurses and (b) female nurses, and (2) the cost per head, per week, of each item in the dietary scale at (i) Dublin prices and (ii) national retail prices.

A fixed scale of rations no longer applies in the case of the nursing staff employed at Grangegorman Mental Hospital. Revised arrangements are in operation in the hospital since the opening of the new staff canteen in April last whereby the officer in charge of the catering arrangements has discretion in providing a varied menu for the staff meals within the total sum made available by way of a fixed daily deduction from the pay of the staff concerned.
