Vol. 176 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Adoption of Children.

8.

asked the Minister for Justice whether he is aware of the increasing anxiety amongst adopting parents of certain religious denominations, who are still unable to finalise adoption of children; and whether he is now prepared to introduce the necessary amending legislation even though other pending amendments to the adoption Act, 1952, have not yet been fully prepared.

I have already indicated that I am prepared to deal sympathetically with the amendment referred to but I am not prepared to deal piecemeal with the various suggestions that have been made for an amendment of this Act. I may say, however, that subject to the approval of the Government I hope to be able to introduce an amending Bill in the next Session.
