Vol. 176 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Prohibition of Sale of Slings.

18.

asked the Minister for Justice if he will introduce legislation to prohibit the sale of slings in view of the many complaints by citizens of damage to windows and of personal injuries caused by such slings.

I do not propose to introduce legislation to prohibit the sale of slings for, as the Deputy is no doubt aware, these are usually made at home by the boys who use them.

I am not satisfied with that answer. Slings are sold. They are on sale in shops and the kids buy them for no other purpose than to have a cock-shot at something. There were fifteen windows broken in Seán McDermott Street only last week. That is why I put down the question.
