35.

asked the Minister for Agriculture whether there have been any, and, if so, what changes since 20th March, 1957, in (a) the personnel and (b) the remuneration of the directors of the boards, State sponsored companies or similar committees in so far as membership thereof carries remuneration for which he is responsible.

Following is the information required:—

(a) Changes in personnel of Boards, etc., since 20-3-57.

Dr. Hennerty was appointed on 2-8-58 to replace Mr. Henry J. O'Friel.

The remuneration of the Chairman was increased from £1,040 to £1,200 per annum with effect from 1st May, 1957.

Cork District Milk Board

Mr. M.J. Mullally (Chairman), 205 Mount Prospect Avenue, Clontarf, Dublin.

The remuneration of the Chairman was increased from £260 to £300 per annum with effect from 1st May, 1957.

Dairy Disposal Co. Ltd.(and associated Companies)

(a) Mr. John Dempsey (Chairman),“Mulcair”, Iona Road,Glasnevin, Dublin.

(a) Mr. Dempsey's salary on his appointment as Chairman of the Dairy Disposal Company Ltd., was fixed at £2,589 per annum (less his Civil Service Pension); in addition, an allowance of £237 per annum was payable. A subsequent general pay award for Civil Servants above the rank of Higher Executive Officer effective from the 1-4-58 was applied in Mr. Dempsey's case to increase his salary as from 11-8-58 to £2,647. There was no change in the allowance payable.

(b) Mr. John Hennigan,5 Priory Grove,Stillorgan, County Dublin.(Deputy Chairman).

(b) The conditions under which Mr. Hennigan was seconded to the Dairy Disposal Co., Ltd., as at 20-3-57 were:—Salary—£1,610 a year; Allowance—£119 a year. On Mr. Hennigan's promotion to Principal Officer rank on 1st September, 1958, his salary was increased to £1,630 per annum. There was no change in the allowance payable.

(c) Mr. M.J. Horgan,Newmarket Dairy Co. (1932) Ltd.,McCurtain Street, Cork.

(c) Mr. Horgan's salary on the 20-3-57 was £1,503 per annum; in addition, an allowance of £119 per annum was payable. Following subsequent general revisions of pay of Civil Servants and a revision of salary for Agricultural Inspectors (to which grade Mr. Horgan belongs), this salary was revised as follows:—

(d) Mr. Dennehy's salary was increased on 28th December, 1957 from £1,300 to £1,450 a year with effect from 1-1-56.

(e) Dr. A.J. Hennerty,Department of Agriculture.

(e) New appointment effective from 25-8-58. The remuneration attached to this post, which is a part-time one, is £100 per annum.

Butter Marketing Committee

Dr. A.J. Hennerty, Department of Agriculture.

Dr. Hennerty was appointed on 2-8-58 to replace Mr. Henry J. O'Friel. The remuneration attaching to the present post which is a part-time one is £250 per annum. The previous holder was not remunerated in respect of this post.

Bord na gCon

This Board was appointed for the first time on 4-7-58.For further details see under (a) above.

asked the Minister for Lands whether there has been any, and, if so, what change since 20th March, 1957, in (a) the personnel and (b) the remuneration of any State sponsored board or company for which he is responsible.

Following are the only changes since 20th March, 1957, in (a) personnel and (b) remuneration of any State sponsored board or company for which the Minister for Lands is responsible:—

(1) in the case of An Bord Iascaigh Mhara—from 24th April, 1958,

(a) four new members were appointed (the Chairman and one member being reappointed). The new members are L. McCarthy; M.F. McNamara; E. Reid; W.J. Sweeney.

(b) fees of ordinary members were increased from £200 to £300 (Chairman's fee remaining unaltered at £331).

(2) In the case of Foyle Fisheries Commission—Mr. M.J. Fletcher replaced Mr. E. O'Kelly as Junior Member as from 20th November, 1957, and Mr. E. O'Kelly replaced Mr. M.S. O Gallchobhair as Senior Member as from 25th April, 1959.

(3) In the case of the Inland Fisheries Trust—

(a) Mr. S.C. McMorrow was appointed Secretary as from 14th January, 1959.

(b) Remuneration — £650 x 25 —£950.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether there has been any change in the remuneration since 20th March, 1957, of the directors of (1) Aerlinte Éireann, Teoranta, (2) Bord Fáilte Éireann, (3) Coras Tráchtála, Teoranta, (4) Dundalk Engineering Works, Ltd., (5) An Foras Tionscal, (6) Irish Steel Holdings, Ltd., (7) Aer Lingus, Teoranta, (8) Aer Rianta, Teoranta, (9) Ceimici, Teoranta, and (10) Irish Shipping, Ltd.; and if he will state the name of any person appointed as a director of any of these concerns since that date, other than an immediate reappointment.
