asked the Taoiseach if he will state the latest known population for each of the thirty-nine constituencies defined in the Electoral (Amendment) Bill, 1959.

15.

asked the Taoiseach if he will state in connection with the Electoral (Amendment) Bill, 1959, (1) the estimated population and (2) the estimated number of Dáil electors per seat in each of the proposed new constituencies and in each of the existing constituencies.

16.

asked the Taoiseach if he will state separately in respect of the population of each constituency for elections to Dáil Eireann under (a) the Electoral (Amendment) Act, 1947, and (b) the Electoral (Amendment) Bill, 1959, the details of the number of Dáil members assigned to each constituency and the population per member in each case on the basis of the Census of Population of 1956.

asked the Taoiseach if he will state (1) the estimated population and (2) the estimated number of Dáil electors now in (a) the present constituencies in the city and county of Dublin, and (b) the proposed new constituencies in the city and county of Dublin.

I propose, with the permission of the Leas-Cheann Comhairle, to take Questions 14, 15, 16 and 17 together and to circulate in the official report a statement which gives the required information. The population figures have been derived from the records of the Census of Population, 1956, and those for Dáil electors are based on the Register of Electors for 1959-60.

Following is the statement:—

asked the Taoiseach if he will state in connection with the Electoral (Amendment) Bill, 1959 (1) the estimated population and (2) the estimated number of Dáil electors in the following areas:— (a) the Kilmainham Ward in the City of Dublin, (b) that portion of the Kilmainham Ward now in the constituency of Dublin South (West), (c) that portion of the Kilmainham Ward now in the constituency of Dublin South (Central), (d) that portion of the Kilmainham Ward proposed to be transferred to Dublin South (Central), (e) that portion of the Kilmainham Ward proposed to be left in Dublin South (West), (f) that portion of the Pembroke West Ward proposed to be transferred from Dublin South (East) to Dublin South (Central), (g) that portion of the Pembroke East Ward proposed to be transferred from Dublin South (East) to Dublin South (Central), (h) that portion of the Rathmines West Ward proposed to be transferred from Dublin South (West) to Dublin South (East), and (i) that portion of the Rathmines West Ward included in the area bounded on the south by the Ward boundary at Highfield Road on the north and north west by Rathgar Road and on the east and north east by Rathmines Road Upper.

I propose, with the permission of the Leas-Cheann Comhairle, to circulate in the Official Report a statement which gives the required information. The population figures are derived from the records of the Census of Population, 1956, and those for Dáil Electors are based on the Electoral Register 1959-60.
