Returns to Writs. - Members of Government—Statement by the Taoiseach.

I beg leave to state, for the information of the Dáil,

(1) That, having informed the President that Dáil Éireann had approved my nomination of Deputy Gerald Bartley to be a member of the Government, the President, on the 23rd July, 1959, appointed him accordingly;

(2) that on the same date, I terminated the former assignments of the Department of Lands and the Department of the Gaeltacht and assigned the Department of Lands to Mr. Michael Moran and the Department of the Gaeltacht to Mr. Gerald Bartley;

(3) that, on the 27th July, 1959, I assigned the Department of Transport and Power to Mr. Erskine Childers; and

(4) that, on the 24th July, 1959, the Government appointed Deputy Joseph Brennan to the office of Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Finance, in place of Mr. Bartley, with effect from the 27th July, 1959.
