Vol. 177 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Export of Horse Meat by Limerick Company.

23.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if the company to whom a licence for the export of horse meat was granted for their premises at Ballyclough, County Limerick, have as yet commenced operations; and, if so, to what country exports were made.

The firm commenced operations in June last when a small trial consignment was prepared and exported to Sweden. Some horses were also slaughtered at the premises last week but no meat therefrom has yet been exported.

Is the Minister aware that Deputy Dillon is blushing deeply?

How many have been killed to date?

How many horses have been killed?

I do not know.

They were ashamed to tell you.
