asked the Taoiseach if he will state in amplification of Table I of a reply of 14th January, 1959, concerning amounts of workmen's compensation paid in fatal cases the number of persons who were (1) wholly dependent and the average amount of compensation paid in each case, (2) partially dependent and the average amount of compensation paid in each case; and if he will give corresponding figures in respect of the latest five year period for which particulars are available.

Table 1 of the reply of 14th January, 1959, referred to, concerning amounts of workmen's compensation paid in cases of fatal accidents in 1956 summarises all the information available to the Central Statistics Office on this subject. No particulars are available of the actual numbers of persons wholly or partially dependent in cases in which workmen's compensation is paid.
The following table shows for each of the years 1953 to 1957 particulars corresponding to those given in the previous reply in respect of 1956:—
NUMBER of fatal cases in which Workmen's Compensation was paid by Insurance Companies and certain large uninsured employers in certain specified industries distinguishing cases with (1) persons wholly dependent and (2) persons partially dependent and whether agricultural or industrial and showing total compensation and average compensation paid in each of the years 1953 to 1957.
