74.

asked the Taoiseach if he will state in respect of the Fíor-Ghaeltacht area in each county in the Gaeltacht in 1926, 1936, 1946, 1951 and 1956 (1) the area in acres, and (2) the population, together with the total population of the entire Fíor-Ghaeltacht in each year.

75.

asked the Taoiseach if he will state in respect of the Fíor-Ghaeltacht in 1926 and at a recent date (1) its population, and (2) the total area in square miles.

It is proposed, with the permission of the Leas-Cheann Comhairle, to take Questions Nos. 74 and 75 together.

The following statement contains the required information:—

AREA and population in 1926, 1936, 1946, 1951 and 1956 of the Fíor-Ghaeltacht areas in each county in the Gaeltacht as defined in the Report of the Gaeltacht Commission, 1925.
