Vol. 177 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Aughleam (Mayo) National School.

28.

asked the Minister for Education when it is proposed to commence work on the building of the new national school at Aughleam, County Mayo.

A suitable site for a new school at Aughleam has been offered and sketch plans for the project have been prepared by the Commissioners of Public Works.

My Department is at present in communication with the Reverend Manager in regard to certain arrangements which will have to be made before a grant towards the cost of the new school can be sanctioned.

When the grant has been sanctioned it will be necessary for the Commissioners of Public Works to prepare working drawings and a specification preparatory to the invitation of tenders.

I am unable to say, therefore, when the work of erection of the new school will commence but every effort will be made to expedite it.
