Vol. 178 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Reprint of Income Tax Act, 1918.

18.

asked the Minister for Finance if he is aware that the principal statute governing income tax, viz., the Income Tax Act, 1918, is now out of print, and that copies are no longer obtainable in this country or in London; and if he will arrange to have the Income Tax Act, 1918, as amended to 1922, reprinted.

I am aware that the Income Tax Act, 1918, is now out of print and that copies are not obtainable in this country. I understand that photostat copies can be supplied by the British Stationery Office.

I have arranged that a small number of copies of the bound volume of British Statutes for the year 1918 will be placed on sale in the Government Publications Sale Office. The Income Tax Act of 1918 is, of course, included in the bound volume.

I understand that copies of the Finance Acts for the years 1919, 1920, 1921 and 1922 are readily obtainable.

In the foregoing circumstances, and as the volume of public demand would not justify the expenditure involved, and as there are also certain other difficulties of a technical nature, I do not propose to have the Income Tax Act, 1918, as amended to 1922, reprinted.
