Vol. 178 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Costs payable by Land Commission.

51.

asked the Minister for Lands if he is aware that the costs payable by the Land Commission are very inadequate, and that in consequence clients as well as solicitors are being penalised; and if he will accordingly revise such costs.

The question of a revision of the scale of costs governing the remuneration of solicitors in certain proceedings under the Land Purchase Acts has been under consideration for some time. Last month I myself met representatives of the Incorporated Law Society on the subject and the appropriate Rule-making Committee and I have reached a measure of agreement with them which will be embodied in an amending Rule in the near future.
